Watch the Surgical Video
Elizabeth Yeu, MD uses the ReSure Sealant in a toric IOL patient to ensure that the clear corneal incision after cataract surgery is sealed completely, minimizing the possibility of lens malrotation. She uses the blunt ends of two spear sponges to simulate a hard-blink that a patient may experience soon after surgery, temporarily increasing the pressure in the eye which causes the wound to egress fluid and the IOL to rotate. Once the ReSure Sealant is applied, the simulated blinking action fails to rotate the lens and the proper positioning is maintained.
- superior to sutures for preventing postoperative egress
- significantly less adverse events
- 50% of clear corneal incisions exhibited spontaneous wound leakage after cataract surgery
